Artist Statement
My art is an investigation of humanity and relationships. I use mixed media to explore the human condition, especially as it relates to our interaction with others. I overlap the figures, varying the media and the size, so that one is left questioning how the people in my work are meant to connect with each other. My work is on repression and its stages. It is the generic term used to describe the propensity to suppress the sensation and expression of unpleasant emotions or thoughts in order to protect one's good self-image. I have used different textures to express myself. The artwork begins with intuitive color washes that become human form as the artwork develops. By the time a work is finished, the original figure has likely been destroyed, Each of the layers leaves an impression. The use of hard texture and neural colors creates equilibrium, demonstrating how the human form and nature are both balanced. The materials I chose represent the relevance and connection between people and art, as I add and subtract me the media
